Responsibilities
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist functions as a Scientific Technologist (Chemistry) and is fully trained and independent in performing routine nuclear medicine procedures. This role supports the department and service line by delivering high-quality diagnostic exams and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with the Nuclear Medicine Physician, the technologist performs the full range of diagnostic imaging procedures, analyzes biological specimens, and assists with both therapeutic and diagnostic interventions. Key responsibilities include preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating imaging equipment, and accurately documenting the distribution of radiotracers within the patient’s body.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate from an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program or Associate's Degree in related field required
Experience:
- 2 years of post-program graduate experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist required
License and Certifications:
- BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
- CTNM - State of California Certified Tech Nuclear Medicine all scopes including venipuncture required
- Must have one of the following primary certifications:
- NMTCB(CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- ARRT(N) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology
